The Agricultural Economics Geographic Information System  (AEGIS) Lab has existed for more than ten years. It has cutting edged hardware and software for analysis of spatial data. ESRI software (ArcGIS ) is the major GIS software package used in AEGIS Lab.

The AEGIS Lab  supports Department faculty and graduate students using GIS in their research.  In recent years, with a well-trained GIS staff  working in the Lab, several leading projects have been or just started using GIS technology.  GIS-assisted research has resulted in a series of publications. Some of these studies lead the country in their respective fields. More and more faculty members in the department are using GIS as the tool for their research.
The AEGIS Lab is located at 255 A-B Agricultural Administration Building. You can contact the lab at: (225) 578-3665, or by  email.
